Had an unpleasant experience with a local trader yesterday; the piece of self-service equipment I was using broke. The trader wanted to take my details and report me to the police for causing damage. Yet this piece of equipment was part of the service he was providing and for which (had it worked) I would have paid! Not being the sort of person that has anything other than respect for other peoples' property, I was rather surprised to be held responsible for "breaking" a piece of equipment that I have used hundreds of times over the last few years, without a problem.
A few minutes later I spotted PC21450 and a colleague just outside the police station. They patiently waited while I explained what had happened and asked me to leave it with them. Less than two hours later PC21450 called me to explain that he'd dealt with the situation by speaking with the trader and that he was confident that I would hear nothing further from that trader.
I would like to thank PC21450 and his colleague for the swift, courteous and efficient way in which they handled this problem for me. I feel I have had very good service from West Midland Police - thank you!
